Building collaborative networks to facilitate innovative, location-based solutions that support the economic, social, and environmental well-being of British Columbians.
The Society was incorporated in May 2001 and registered under the BC Societies Act as a non-profit organization with a focus on collaboration between Local Government, Provincial Government and major Utility companies in British Columbia.
Since 2001, membership has grown to include First Nations and other organizations that benefit from the sharing and integration of spatial data.
Members of the Society agree through a Data Sharing and Licensing Agreement to contribute data which is then integrated into ICI Society Data Services, including the Data Catalog and Web Map Viewer.
The Society works to build relationships and maintain trust between its members to provide value and to meet member’s geospatial data requirements. The Society succeeds through the success of its members.
New initiatives are established by the Board of Directors comprised of 15 representatives from the Local Government, Provincial and Utility member segments.
As a single hub of information from multiple agencies, Society members are connected, engaged and actively working to improve the flow of information, data products and services that support the ICI Society vision.
